Order 66 marked the complete annihilation of the Jedi Order, and Obi-Wan Kenobi is continuing to look at the aftermath of that. There are countless Jedi Padawans, Knights, and Masters across the Star Wars timeline who were met with cruel fates. Some in particular deserved better endings than what they were given.
Whether they were killed in that order from the Emperor or perhaps sacrificed themselves in a different era, Reddit users feel that these major Jedi characters in Canon definitely deserved a happier ending, but were never allowed to live out the peaceful life that they so deserved.
Ahsoka Tano’s final fate has yet to be revealed. But when it comes to the Jedi, the conclusion of her tale with the Order has already been set. Ahsoka heartbreakingly left the Jedi, turning her back on the Temple and the Council forever, because of the way she was treated.
ety3rd Spoke about how unfair that finale was, saying “If you’ll recall, she felt betrayed by the Jedi Order because they didn’t support her, despite how loyal she had been and how many years of service she had given them.” The story resonated with the Reddit user and was a cruel way for Ahsoka’s time to finish. In the years since, she has, at least, defined what life outside of the Order can truly be as a hero.
Regardless of what has happened to Vos, his fate is still tragic. After finding love with Asajj Ventress, she was cruelly murdered in Dark Discipleleaving him alone to grieve, before being caught up with the loss of Order 66. Fans like HullSlitter still have hope for a happier return for the character, saying “In a few comics, the Inquisitors list him as a possible survivor. I doubt there were many Inquisitors that could kill him, but I’m sure he’ll appear in a book” or comic somewhere in the future.”
Kanan Jarrus started off life pretty tragically, with his Master getting killed during Order 66. In Rebels, he is shown to find a new family, reconnecting with the Force, bonding with the love of his life Hera, and teaching new Jedi the ways of the old Order.
However, his sacrifice is one of the most heartbreaking moments in Canon. Helping his team escape, Kanan had already given up so much in life, but he had one last move to make. His death as collemacgrath2009 Note, “hits harder because Jedi are not normally in love but also not normally father figures at least as we have seen them portrayed.”
Plo Koon is a personal favorite among many Star Wars fans, and even creator Dave Filoni. He has become a major factor in the comics as well as the Clone Wars series. However, his fate was always linked to Order 66. Fans will know that, in Revenge Of The Sith, he is shot down in his fighter.
The death seemingly can never be undone, as it appears to be pretty final. It’s such a shame as so many resonated with the Jedi. One Reddit user said that “The guy cared so much for his Clones. He treated them like real people. Of all the Jedi, he cared for his clones equal to Obi-Wan or even more than. To then have them shoot him down in cold blood was heartbreaking.” Plo Koon absolutely deserved better.
Shaak Ti was another Jedi that was often overlooked. She served in the Clone Wars and was one of the few people overseeing the Cloning process. She was kind, considerate, and a very strong leader. She might have even been capable of taking over the Jedi Council one day and was as respected as the likes of Mace Windu.
Her story has many conclusions, but none are ones that feel deserving of her deeds. From Legend comics to deleted scenes, MrJedabak summarizes it by suggesting that “In Canon, she was killed by Anakin in the Jedi Temple. In Legends, she was killed by Starkiller on Kashyyyk.” Regardless of the nature of her fate, it’s clear from the discussion that it’s a difficult one to swallow, and that’s perhaps why it is so often used for emotional conflict.
Tera Sinube made his mark in The Clone Wars, where he became a short-term mentor for young Ahsoka Tano. He was patient and wise, but an older member of the Jedi Order. He did things at his own pace, but that always got him results despite being mocked by some.
Such a gentle soul didn’t deserve the ending to his story that was shown in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Zucchini2024 reflects everyone’s emotions when they say “NOT TERA SINUBE! His episode of TCW was one of the ones I remember staying up to watch as a kid with the fam. Breaks my goddamn heart.”
Luminara Unduli was a gracious Jedi Master, who understood how to get the best out of those around her. She was self-assured, supremely powerful, and a wonderful leader. But her history with the Jedi was checkered thanks to her rogue Padawan, who sought to bring about the end of the Order.
Considering how great she was as a Master, it’s such a shame that her reputation was linked to that incident. However, the horrifying scene in Rebels Demonstrated her final resting place after Order 66. With Kanan finding that her corpse was used to bring in other Jedi, audiences shared the feelings the same as the characters. DeepThrowaway99 said, “the emotions I felt in that early episode was like a punch to the gut, and not only that but I didn’t realize how messed up the empire actually was.”
Sskeer is one of the newest Jedi to be introduced into Canon as part of the High Republic initiative. While plenty of familiar faces are showing up toothe original Jedi Master has a complex story to explore, that sees him battle with a degenerative disease, while trying to stay in touch with the Force.
It seems that the comic run has marked his endpoint, with the hero sacrificing himself utilizing his abilities to keep a monstrous creature at bay. Even though the evidence is clear, fans aren’t willing to let go of the character, like IcePhoenix295, who said that “the realization that Sskeer is now one of basically two Jedi (he and Elzar) who can fight against the nameless was great. The probability is that sadly he won’t.
Ezra Bridger has had one of the most intriguing journies of any character in the Star Wars universe. Initially a kid who was flying solo and trying to survive under the Empire, he quickly becomes a powerful Jedi; one that could have even turned to the dark side at times. But what really happened to Ezra?
It’s partly a mystery. Fans last saw the character jettisoned into space alongside Thrawn. However, fans are hopeful that he won’t be lost forever, considering how cruel this would be. Some have even optioned to believe a happier ending, with Milkshake Wizard saying he and Thrawn are “Traveling to various planets just enjoying fine pieces of art.” Perhaps Ahsoka will give him a better finale.
Qui-Gon Jinn was only ever trying to do the best for the galaxy. He gave Kenobi the best start he could have had and tried to secure the prophecy he believed in. It wasn’t fair that he went down fighting Maul, especially when the latter actually survived.
Fans have never quite gotten over the murder of Jinn since audiences barely got to even know him. 12thDoctorIsABadass shared their views saying “he was one of the most interesting characters for me and it was [wild] how heartbreaking his death was, especially with Kenobi briefly using the dark side afterward and Qui Gon telling Obi to train the Chosen One with his last breath.”
