Hemsworth has accredited his massive muscular frame in Love and Thunder to boredom during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout his time in lockdown. Hemsworth pursued several different workout activities and ate over 6,000 calories a day. Hemsworth has stated that when he finally made it to the Love and Thunder set, he noticed that his costume even fit a bit tighter. The film managed to incorporate his new physical transformation as well, since the plot required his character to go through a bulking up montage before his return as ‘regular’ Thor for his fight against Gorr the God Butcher.

Luckily for those that share the sentiments of Hemsworth’s wife, it appears that the actor doesn’t intend to keep up his new physique for long. Although Hemsworth was able to make some significant gains, maintaining this build is likely both extremely daunting and difficult when accompanied by busy filming schedules for other projects, for which he needs to play characters who are less bulked up. The actor even recalled the experience as “horrible,” saying he hoped for a “fancy muscle-y costume” next time. That said, despite its mixed reactions, Hemsworth’s look in Thor: Love and Thunder certainly made the MCU star appear worthy of wielding Mjolnir.
