Star Wars Art Imagines Christian Bale as Live-Action Starkiller

Christian Bale is fan cast as The Force Unleashed’s Starkiller in a new poster for a potential live-action Star Wars series on Disney+.

A new piece of Star Wars fan art imagines Christian Bale playing a live-action version of Starkiller. In 2008, Galen Marek, codenamed Starkiller (not to be confused with the new Death Star in The Force Awakens), was introduced as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice in the popular Star Wars video game The Force Unleashedwhich was followed by The Force Unleaded II in 2010. Although the gray Jedi, voiced by Sam Witwer (The Clone Wars, Rebels), has essentially been replaced by Sith Inquisitors in canon, Starkiller is considered by many to be one of the franchise’s best characters.

Lucasfilm’s live-action Star Wars TV shows have seen several popular characters return on Disney+. Previously animated characters Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano both had supporting roles on The Mandalorian season 2, and bounty hunter Cad Bane was a surprise villain in The Book of Boba Fett. Obi-Wan Kenobi continued this trend by showing the Grand Inquisitor in live-action while featuring the long-awaited return of Ewan McGregor’s titular character and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (not to mention Qui-Gon Jinn and Emperor Palpatine). As upcoming shows like Andor explore the era of the Galactic Empire, now would be the time to give Starkiller the live-action treatment.

digital creator Jason Benullo Design on Instagram recently shared a fan poster of Bale in a hypothetical Starkiller project. This new piece imagines the actor as Galen in an upcoming Disney+ series exploring the character’s position in between light and darkness. Check it out below:

Following his recent foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Thor: Love and Thunder, the 49-year-old actor could very well continue working with Disney on its other high-profile franchise. Not only does Bale have a history with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, but he once confirmed he was in talks to star in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Furthermore, Bale has said he’s a huge Star Wars fan and hopes to work with Lucasfilm in the future.

Bale’s talent would undoubtedly benefit Star Wars. However, Starkiller may not be the role for him. The best casting choice for Galen Marek is almost certainly Witwer himself, who, like Cameron Monaghan did for Jedi: Fallen Order‘s Cal Kestisprovided both the voice and motion capture for Starkiller in The Force Unleashed. It seems unlikely Lucasfilm would cast Bale over Witwer as it would provoke ire from fans. On top of that, Starkiller’s power has the potential to irrecoverably break canon. While this doesn’t mean Disney won’t ever bring the character to live-action, if Bale is talking to Lucasfilm, odds are it’s not about starring as Starkiller.
