Upcoming Comics: May 31, 2022

Welcome back to Upcoming Comics!

I don’t have much to report this week, other than some good news. For those of you excited for Ram V’s upcoming Detective Comics run, you’ll be happy to know I scored an interview with him! I managed to talk to him for an hour, and we went pretty in-depth as to his writing process, and some of what you can expect from the run. Look forward to it going up some time in June!

Now, here’s what we’ve got for this week:

Upcoming Comics

Batman 2022 Annual #1

Following the events of the Abyss story arc, Batman has now tasked Ghost-Maker to finance and lead Batman Inc.! First order of business for the new management? Clean up a huge mess Luthor created in Chechnya…but is this new group ready to face fearsome new threat the Gray Wolf? And prepare yourself for the evolution of Clownhunter!

Thoughts: The Batman News team is a little resentful of the fact that Ghostmaker is getting so much attention as compared to the rest of the Bat-Family – check out Jays excellent argument for Tim leading Batman Incorporated instead.

Shadow War: Omega #1

THE SHADOW WAR’S EPIC CONCLUSION! The shocking finale of the Shadow War! Lives have been lost. Heroes and villas have fallen in battle. And now the real mastermind behind the Shadow War has been revealed. But they are far from done! Batman and Robin are all that’s left to put a stop to their real plans. Can the father-and-son duo work together to save the day? Events in this issue lead directly into DC’s next big summer event!

Pencils by Howard Porter and Michael L Henderson
Inks by Howard Porter, Michael L Henderson and Stephen Segovia
Cover Art by Jonboy Meyers

Thoughts: Not really sure what the suspense is – we know Deathstroke plays a role in Dark Crisis. Guess we’ll see!

Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1

The Justice League has tragically fallen in battle, and now we see the aftermath. How does the world react to the Justice League being gone? Which heroes rise up…and which villains try to take advantage? And what dark forces are lying in wait to attack? An all-star roster of DC talent showcases a world without a Justice League and sets the stage for next month’s Dark Crisis event!

Thoughts: Hey! DC! What was that about “no more issues of Justice League”? Wanna repeat that, guys?

Batman: Beyond the White Knight Showcase Edition #1

**SPOILER ALERT!** The Joker is alive AND Harley Quinn is married to Bruce Wayne?! A lot has happened in the first two issues of Batman: Beyond the White Knight from writer and artist Sean Gordon Murphy. DC will be collecting the first two issues for fans to get caught up on the series in a Showcase Edition!

Beyond the Bat

Welcome to Beyond the Bat! Here you can see everything else that DC is releasing this week, beyond the scope of the books we cover on the website.

Recently, I recieved a very high recommendation for the latest run of Action Comics – let me know if you’ve been current with it.

Most Excited: Wait.

Last Excited: Hang on, there’s no right answer here! I’m not excited for any of these!

Wild Card: Well, there are plenty of comics next week, so look forward to a much more substantial article then.

Best wishes, and see you in the reviews!
